The rules just changed. Is your practice ready?
The CMA now requires published pricing, ownership transparency, and prescription guidance. Laika gives your practice the tools to get there.
~40% of UK practices are independent. They’re the ones who need this most.

The reforms
What’s changing
The CMA’s final report mandates a series of reforms every UK vet practice must meet. Here’s what your website needs to cover — and what practice owners are most worried about.
01
Price lists must go online
Consultations, vaccinations, neutering, dental, and cremation — all must be clearly listed on your veterinary practice website. This is the core CMA vet price list requirement.
02
Ownership must be declared
Patients must be able to see whether your practice is independent or part of a corporate group. No small print — it must be prominent.
03
Prescription transparency
Pet owners must be told they can request a written prescription and shop elsewhere — including online pharmacies. First script fees are capped at £21.
04
Written estimates for £500+
Any treatment over £500 requires an itemised estimate upfront, including aftercare. Emergencies are the only exception.
05
Vet practice price comparison feeds
Your pricing data must feed into the RCVS "Find a Vet" service and authorised third-party comparison sites.
Deadline
Reforms come into force later in 2026.
Independent practices that aren’t ready risk enforcement action and reputational damage.

About
Specialist web design for independent veterinary practices
Hi, I’m Ross. I’m a web designer and developer specialising in professional services — and since the CMA published its final report, exclusively focused on helping independent vet practices meet their new obligations.
I work directly with practice owners and managers to build websites that are compliant from day one — no account managers, no middlemen, no hand-off to a junior.

“About 40% of UK practices are independent. They’re the ones who need the most help — and the least likely to have someone in-house to sort this.”
